October is painted in pink, a month dedicated to raising awareness, showing support, and inspiring hope for those affected by breast cancer. For Compagniesdrift, it’s a cause that touches every one of us.
As a proudly community-driven winery, this month gave us the opportunity to reflect, learn, and give back through our support of the Breast Health Foundation and the life-changing work they do across South Africa.
A cause close to our hearts
At the heart of our initiative is Ilse Ruthford, our Managing Director and a breast cancer survivor whose story of strength continues to inspire our team. Her journey reminded us that breast health awareness isn’t just for one group, it’s for everyone. Taking time to learn, talk, and act can make all the difference.
40% of sales from our Compagniesdrift Chardonnay Pinot Noir is donated to the Breast Health Foundation, helping to fund programmes that promote early detection, education, and community support.
This initiative not only highlights an important cause but also reflects the values at the core of Compagniesdrift; care, courage, and connection.
A month of awareness and action
This October, Ilse handed out pink roses to the Compagniesdrift team, dressed in a bright pink safety jacket as a symbol of strength and solidarity. She also shared practical ways to stay proactive about breast health, from recognising early warning signs to encouraging regular check-ups and healthy habits. It was a small gesture with a big message: take care of yourself and each other.
Our Wine & Farm Shop was decorated in pink ribbons and blooms throughout the month, creating a cheerful reminder of what the campaign stands for. Visitors joined in the spirit by purchasing bottles of Chardonnay Pinot Noir, knowing that part of their purchase supported a worthy cause.
The wine that gives back
The Compagniesdrift Chardonnay Pinot Noir has long been one of our most loved wines, and with good reason. This delicate blend combines the freshness of Chardonnay with the fruitiness of Pinot Noir, offering notes of red berry, citrus, and a soft, smooth finish.
It’s approachable, elegant, and easy-drinking, a perfect companion for any occasion. But this October, it became even more meaningful. Every bottle sold contributed directly to the Breast Health Foundation, turning a simple moment of enjoyment into one of purpose.
We’re proud that our wine could play a small role in supporting breast cancer awareness and empowering others to prioritise their health.
